Cristhian Areas Molina is a Nicaraguan committed to social change and development. In 2010 he began his studies in International Relations at the Ibero-American University of Science and Technology, the same year in which he also assumed the position of Secretary of Youth Affairs in the Citizen Action Party (PAC). During this time, he dedicated himself to promoting democracy and development, representing young people who shared his vision of a prosperous and peaceful Nicaragua.

In 2014, Henry George’s influential book Progress and Poverty came into his hands, which transformed his vision of the economy and social justice. Inspired by George’s ideas about the monopolization of land and natural resources, Cristhian set two key objectives: Investigate the feasibility of a tax reform based on a Single Tax on the value of land and its resources, and develop a proposal political-economic that could be implemented to verify the positive effects proposed by George.

To strengthen his knowledge in public management and poverty reduction, Cristhian completed a master’s degree in International Trade, a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution, Peace and Development and several specialized courses such as “Public and Fiscal Administration: how a government is managed” taught by the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), and “Public Financial Management” created by the IMF, and “Local Institutions and Poverty Reduction” with the Universidad Centroamericana UCA.
