Common Ground Vice President Paul Justus died suddenly of natural causes while on a walk in his Salem, Oregon neighborhood on January 20, 2021. Not only was Paul CGUSA VP, but he was head of its communications committee and webmaster of  CGUSA’s Oregon-Washington chapter.  Paul first joined Common Ground in September of 2002. Paul was also  a board member of the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation.

Yet Paul was best known as a member of Team CGO, the conference planning arm of the Council of Georgist Organizations where he served as specialty camera man and video editor for most of the CGO’s conference videos from 2003-2020. He first attended the 2003 CGO Conference in Bridgeport, CT.  Paul served as CGO National Secretary from 2009-2012..  In 2016, his peers honored his work on their behalf  with the CGO’s Unsung Hero Award for 2016.

Paul was an author and strong advocate of progressive economic policy to combat our nation’s growing inequality and promote the common good. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dr. Andrea Radwell, a noted stream ecologist   Paul is survived by five siblings, one step-son and four step grand-children and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews

Paul was deeply respected by all who knew him. He served in the Peace Corps in the island nation of Tonga and retired as a regional planner for the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission. He was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem,  Oregon, an Eagle Scout and served on the boards of several public service non-profit organizations among them, the Ozark Regional Land Trust and Public Revenue Education Council (PREC) He also published a children’s book about Georgist economic policy, “Young George and the Dragon: An Economic Fairy Tale”.
